Interactive Metronome
Interactive metronome (IM) is a neurological and motor rehabilitation program new to Austin Chiropractic Center. It is used to improve cognitive deficits in attention and concentration, motor planning and sequencing, language processing, and behavior (aggression and impulsivity). IM is also helpful with physical deficits such as balance and gait, endurance, strength, motor skills and coordination. It has been tested on several populations including neurobehavior disorders like ADD and ADHD, Parkinson's disease, post stroke patients, and amputees with excellent results. If you or your child has any of the following symptoms, then IM may be beneficial for them: impulsiveness, aggressiveness, reading difficulties, feeling overwhelmed, sensory integration problems, memory issues, balance disorders or poor organizational and planning skills.
Over the course of the IM training program, patients will learn to
• focus and attend for longer and longer periods of time
• increase physical endurance and stamina
• filter out internal and external distractions
• improve ability to monitor mental and physical actions as they are occuring
• progressively improve performance both cognitively and physically
