When an athlete is injured in his or her sport, Dr. Austin can expertly evaluate the injury and determine what kind of chiropractic care is needed to speed recovery. Then through rehabilitative exercises and chiropractic care, the athlete can return to their sport as quickly as possible. Our goal is to avoid surgery as often as possible, but sometimes surgery is the only available option. Dr. Austin has worked cooperatively with many excellent surgeons in the area and can refer a patient, if necessary.

One of the post-graduate degrees that chiropractors can obtain is that of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Dr. Austin completed a 360-hour course in sports medicine and received his CCSP in sports in 1995 after passing rigorous written and practical national board exams. He then worked with amateur and professional athletes in many fields. Dr. Austin believes that all people have an athlete in them and encourages each person to explore this in their lives. His goals for all athletes is prevention and rehabilitation of injuries, maximizing performance with neurological chiropractic care, aligning the feet (the base of the body) with Sole Supports orthotics to prevent shin splints and plantar fascitis and other common athletic problems, and supporting the nutritional needs of athletes.

Dr. Austin is certified and registered by the Colorado High School Activities Association to perform preparticipation sports physicals for all athletes prior to the beginning of their sport.

Additionally, Dr. Austin worked for several years on a volunteer basis with Triple Crown Sports, serving athletes’ needs in sports like rollerblade hockey, three-on-three basketball, softball, and soccer. He served as a sideline sports physician at the National Military rugby championships at Fort Carson. He has worked with professional mountain bikers and road racers, triathletes of many abilities, baseball and basketball players, skiers and snowboarders, tennis and racquetball players as well as many other athletes.
